ABOUT KAYRE
I am a User Experience Instructor in the Greater Atlanta Metropolitan Area. I also provide UX tutoring services.
Academic:
My story began at the Georgia Institute of Technology, where I earned a BS in Computer Science. My interest in human behavior and desire to be a voice for the user led to a certificate in Social and Personality Psychology, and a Usability specialization.
After graduation I completed a summer internship at the Pennsylvania State University where I continued along the path of user-centered development. I fell more in love with User Experience and went on to receive my Master's in Human Computer Interaction from Carnegie Mellon University.
Professional:
I began my career as a UX researcher, and later transitioned into a full-stack UX designer, executing on responsibilities of research, testing, information architecture, interaction design, and visual design. I have worked extensively with multi-disciplinary teams and am particularly strong in managing complexity, navigating ambiguity, and balancing business and user needs.
During my 13 years as a practitioner I stood up new research practices and processes, created and taught classes for my teammates, and mentored junior researchers and designers. This passion for growing others led me to officially transition into a UX educator 4 years ago, where I have had the privilege to teach and advise current UX practitioners as well as those just beginning on a life-changing career shift into UX.
Personal:
My main passion in my non-work life is running, where I also enjoy growing others and am a certified running coach through the Road Runners Club of America.
I also love Storytelling - whether teaching at my church group, writing songs, or doing public speaking through Toastmasters International, where I have received awards at the Club, Area, and Division levels.
Outside of that, you might find me playing my guitar, birding, cycling, or just enjoying the great outdoors.
